In line with its innovative spirit, the company recently introduced an industry first to its 20,000 small holders: a digital weighing scale system which enables suppliers to weigh the tea leaf in their own premises, through a blue-tooth connected hand-held device, and then transfer the data to the head office in Lellopitiya. The suppliers are then paid via ATMs located across the area in equivalence to the amount of tea supplied.

The group has also gone one step forward and introduced an ATM card for all its suppliers, where the balance is accumulated in accordance with the volume supplied.  With the facility of even having supplementary cards for family members, KDU Group has really changed the lives of its small holder community.
